The proposed Siddhartha University will be located at Nala, Ugrachandi Village Development Committee, which is about 20 km east of Kathmandu City and about two kilometer from Banepa. There is very good transportation service from Kathmandu to Banepa. There is a shuttle bus service to Banepa city. Nala is an important medieval town, with two important temple sites, the Nala Bhagwati and Karunamaya (Seto Macchendranath of Nala). It is at the foothills of Nagarkot ridge, and well connected from Banepa and Bhaktapur. It is an important traditional market for the surrounding rural areas. Although the pace of change in the original town form is not as rapid as Banepa or Bhaktapur, reconstruction, encroachments slum formation etc. is underway.
